Method
Prepare the Dough
- In a huge bowl, combine the warm milk and active dry yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until it gets to be frothy.
- Add the egg, egg yolk, mollified butter, honey, orange zest, and orange juice to the yeast mixture. Blend until well combined.
- Gradually mix 3 cups of flour and salt until the dough collides. Knead for 5-7 minutes, adding more flour, if necessary, until the dough is soft and slightly sticky.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly greased bowl, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
Prepare the Filling
- Mix the softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and orange zest In a small bowl until combined.
Assemble the Rolls
- Roll the dough into a 12x18 inch rectangle on a floured surface.
- Evenly spread the filling over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border on one of the long edges.
- Roll the dough tightly, starting from the opposite long edge, and seal the seam by pinching it closed.
- Cut the log into 12 even slices and place them in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Cover and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes until puffy.
Bake the Rolls
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brow
Make the Frosting
- While the rolls are baking, prepare the frosting. In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, orange zest, orange juice, and salt until smooth and creamy.
Frost and Serve
- Remove the rolls from the oven and allow them to cool for 10 minutes before spreading the orange cream cheese frosting over the top. Serve warm and enjoy!
